props to Geoff on organising a great day out!

i dont know what you boys got up to when i bailed but my trip back to perth was a bit of fun, shame i kept getting stuck behind a heap of crappy old mustangs who were really struggling around the corners outside of York. it wasnt long till i got them out of my site though

Default Thanks Geoff

Great run Geoff. Thanks for organising it. Shame we had to pull the pin at York. Great run back home via Beverley and Brookton hwy tho. Sheesh ... the countryside is very very very very dry tho.
Look forward to your pics. I had my new camera on the wrong setting I'll read the book before I use it next time.

Good day Geoff

Only used 12L for the day...Gotta love the diesel.

Didnt need a new windscreen which was good, just had the chip fixed, I must say I thought it was going to turn into a crack on the way home but it didnt, Hot tunings did the job again

Thanks again guys. We had a pretty decent turn out at Kings Park - it was good to meet some new faces with plenty of OzAudi members including a couple of cars from Mandurah, as well as other members of the offical VW Club. Even though some of the usual VWWC supects weren't there, I counted about 18 cars at the start.

A few pics from the meet -

We left about half an hour later than planned (I was late haha and had the maps) so didn't get pics of everyone. Set off to York with about 15 in convoy, had a few stops on the way up to allow people to catch up, and then parked up in the vacant lot behind the Motor Museum.

After lunch at the pub we visited the York Motor Museum. Have to say I was a little disappointed in the presentation of the vehicles - I had expected them to be in better nick, most were quiet dusty and needed some TLC. It is only a country town though so probably doesn't have the visitor turnover to manage the cost of restoring and/or maintaining all the vehicles. Still, a good range of classics- 1946 Beetle, 356 Roadster, MGs, an Austin Healy, and a couple of 70s F1 cars too!

Because of the later start most people left to go home from York. Only 3 of us continued up to Northam and then onto Gidgegannup for a run though the hills. Got stuck behind a Corolla for about 15km I reckon who refused to go over about 80 in a 110 zone and must have had 10 other cars banked up behind them on the way though from Northam...

After some nice twisty roads which resulted in a few paint & windscreen chips, plus a cracked headlight and possibly a dead small bird somewhere, we headed back to city for a coffee. I blame the late afternoon sun plus I swear those honkey nuts were out to get us

Thanks to all who came, great turn out - looking forward to the next one. And yes, we will have a combined forum track day sometime soon-ish!!

Full photo album here.

Geoff
