Talking 42 Draft Designs Golf R dump pipe released!!

Thanks to Lucas _R from "the other place", it seems the 42DD Golf R dump is now available, Lucas found the announcment on Vortex today. I knew it was close, but am still awaiting my official email from 42DD!! This pic is the race ( catless ) version obviously, which I don't recommend on a tiny gain vs legality ratio....but you get the idea.

42 are offering FREE ceramic coat on all orders till May 20, I have yet to confirm this with them, but I don't see any reason I couldn't pass that offer on, as it seems 42 are absorbing the cost there.

The best news is the pipes cost the EXACT same as the MKV/VI FSI GTI dumps, and that price is ongoing:

Non resonated, stock adaptor, Street series ( with cat ) $680 delivered.
Resonated, stock adaptor, Street series $745 delivered.
Ceramic coat normally $140, most likely free till 20th May!!

Will have the product page up tonight, but I expect fabrication times to blow out a bit at first, so first in best dressed!!

Hey guys, got a message overnight from 42 that they don't have the margin in the pipes to offer the free ceramic to dealers, so if you want to take advantage of the offer, I suggest you order directly from 42 in the USA till May 20. I would!

Hi Greg - are you still able to get the 42DD downpipe (resonated) for Golf R as mentioned above? Is the $745 price still the going rate?

I was going to get a resonator added to my current Scorpion downpipe to quieten it down a bit, but i think i might get the resonated 42DD instead. How much extra is it for the ceramic coating?

Yep price is the same. All you would need on top of that in a O2 spacer is your tune can't cater for the cat error.

At the moment 42DD have advised me to stop taking orders on ceramic coating, as Jet Hot whom they have been using have just doubled their pricing. So until 42 find a suitable vendor, the people wanting ceramic are getting them done here in Oz. I'm about to do one for one of my Doc mates, so will let you know the costs I find. The old cost price which I passed on for a cermaic coated dump / mid was $140.

Received my 42DD dump pipe today (ordered through Greg but shipped directly from 42DD in the USA). Took just over a week to get here which was pretty damn fast.

The dump pipe was very well packaged to avoid damage in transit, and looks to be very nice quality. First impressions are good, as expected, as im happy with other 42DD products i have purchased. New turbo gasket and appropriate fitting hardware included (as it should be) and something that wasn't included with my current Scorpion dump pipe (had to be purchased separately).

Will be getting it ceramic coated before installation, and will take some pics incase it benefits others.

Great service from Greg as always too.

Good to hear Ryan, figured your pipe would be with you by now.

Just make sure the coaters cover the CAT innards when they coat it, I have seen cats full of ceramic coat paint, and you want it both left exposed so it can do it's job, and the cells to be as high flow as possible, not covered in drips and built up paint!! You would expect people to do this, but best to point it out up front.

My Brisbane customers pipe arrived to me too this week, and off to a local coater I go as well....

We have decided to just coat the first two sections, and leave the Resonator and last adapter alone to save $$, and the resonator is stainless anyhow. The whole pipe is aluminized, so it will last as long as most people have a new car for in the VERY least.

I dropped the one above at the local Brisbane coaters today, and they charge $30 per foot, so said a dump like this is roughly $150ish, a turbo $50 and a log manifold / simple welded mani about $100. Close to the old $140 42DD were charging me that I passed on without the recommended margin. I am waiting to hear how 42 are going finding someone new, but I have to say local coating is seemingly similar prices - and I could pick colours as well.

Difference between the Golf R and Tiguan - exhaust system

    Good 'day Greg,

Those are very good pics and the workmanship looks impressive.

Please pardon my ignorance, i know both the Golf R and Tiguan 4Motion use four wheel drive systems, wouldn't they have similar layouts such that the TBE of an R can be fitted to a Tiguan?

    Thank you.
