3700ks and loving it... wife still would have liked a fabia monte tho

    Hi All

Just wanted to give you a quick heads up on my nearly 4000ks in my 1.2dsg yeti after getting the windows tinted and floor mats made (as i am too much of a tight arse to give the dealer anymore cash and get them off them see post below to see nightmare-ish buying story)

i got the polish/wax sorted within the first week (autoglym super resin polish and hd wax). i tried getting my phone book to sync with the radio and it wouldn't have it, until about 2 weeks later while driving home from work it just automatically picked it up. So the drive to work now is such a breeze compared to my old ride. i am getting in between 6.4l and 7.4l per 100k so i am happy with that, i did a day trip away and was averaging 5.4l on that journey..even better

so it's been to the local vw garage to get its 1000k check - albeit 1500ks late - and was told that it needed a shim in the turbo (something to do with over revving, not all models but some and mine must have been one of the ones that needed doing) so had to go back the following week to get that done

'ive seen 2 other yetis on the road and waved both times only to be blanked on both occasions, maybe because the 2 drivers seemed to be over 60 and didn't realise they were members of this select group of people (who my wife calls Geeks) but i was expecting a little wave at least ....lol

i am still parking at the far side of the shopping center away from all obstacles and generally treating the car like a new born. the only thing i have done wrong several times is when driving keeping my hand on the gear stick (old manual habits) and sometimes while going round bends etc, knocking the gearstick to the left hence engaging the manual mode of the gears and not realizing till the engine is revving and i'm not moving any quicker and people are looking at me/the car. maybe if i turned my talking audio books down i might hear the engine better ....lol (wow reading this back to myself i am getting old! talking books, WTF? in my defence its better than the drivel they call music nowadays ...look i am doing it again - getting old

    anyway loving the car

    HI Pomie!
    Love your comments!

yes, there are those who we wave to, and they look at us blankly....but then you get that one fellow "driver" who appreciates the choices we made!!!

Talking books...hmmm...I gotta agree with that one sounding old though mate!!!!?????

Enjoy the drive. I reckon that having a passion for cars is why we ae here after all and not out driving white fridges (sorry, I mean corollas)

    Cheers,

    Hey adouzzy

Yeah its front wheel drive, i to thought that a 1.2 even a turbo wouldn't be good but boy was i wrong, I took the fabia monte manual out first and was blow away buy the speed of the little thing ive had MK2 escorts back in the uk with 2.0 fitted and this little 1.2 would leave it for dead upto a certain speed, so you gotta take one out for a test and i am sure you will be surprised and the 1.4 vrs fabia supercharged and turbo ed is mental, I would love a vrs yeti in that metallic green

On another note when i took it to get its 1000k service or look at, they stuck the next service sticker on the windscreen for about the same time next year or 15,000ks but in the digital display it says SERVICE IN 23200 KM or 606 days
    so who is right ??

the reason i as is i worked for a rental company back in the uk late 1990's who had hundreds of ford transit and they were slowly before i left changing them to MERCs due to better resales at the end of there hire life and longer service intervals
so was maybe thinking the yeti is on the same lines with longer servicing intervals ??

    Anyone ......
