Well even with the mirror selected to "L" no dice with the dipping anymore. Anyway, shall mention at the 1000km checkup.
Really ?
that's a nuff nuff idea. .imo. .
That feature sold me the car... heh heh.. you mean i gota specify it now ..
I should've put in the new car contract - sale is void if car hasn't got this feature enabled from the start.

Does anyone with a GTI have the mirror dip working or is a Jetta thing ?
When I first picked up the Jetta (TFSI) and put it in reverse, it didn't work. I had a bit of a play - can't remember the exact sequence I tried, but think it was this...
1) put the mirror selector to "L"
2) put the gear stick to Reverse
3) adjust the mirror to the desired position (looking down at the curb)
All done! Well it now works for me.
The mirror will stay in this position until the car drives forward >15km/h (or thereabouts). This permits doing forward/reverse adjustments while parking without moving the mirror position with every change of direction. Also, I think it will only move when going into reverse if the "L" mirror is selected.
PS: The dealer wasn't aware that this function existed on the Jetta.
I am intrigued with this....... I have an '07 TDI Jetta does this feature work on my car? how do you select L?
cheers

The L button I presume is the L for left mirror adjust, tried selecting L and reversing no mirror dip perhaps it is a dealer Vagcom set up?
cheers

You will need to pre-set the dip.
Do this putting in into reverse, selecting 'L' and adjust the mirror to face the kerb as you want it. This will now be the pre-set position.
When you start moving forward (have to reach 15km/h), the mirror will return to its normal driving view.
Leave the mirror in 'L' though, and every subsequent time you put the car into reverse it will dip to the pre-set position.
Picking my new 5dr Red GTi up on Thursday, after reading this thread asked for mirror dipping to be activated.
Dealer response was no problem, they just have to email their pre-delivery boys to get them to do it.
Cool...
