Dude that's awesome! I will try it out as soon as possible. But just to make sure I understood the Russian translation:

1)Handbrake On, Car is in Park and Ignition is on but Engine is off. (Transmission should be warmed up already before doing this)
    2)Go to 02 - Electronics & Measurement Group / Basic Settings > Group 60 > Read
3)Wait for fields to display the following information: 4 - 0 - 0 and then turn on Ignition within 10 seconds. (or it will display 255 - 7 - 0 and this means you'll have to start over again)
4)After a few seconds the fields will now display 254 - 0 - 0 which should mean that the process is complete. (Handbrake should be enough to hold car in position, but just to be safe you should fully depress brakes too)
5)Exit VAGCOM and turn off engine; Basic settings are now complete.

    That's all, right?

Some correction for 3) and 4).
    3) the "... and then turn on Ignition within 10 seconds" must be replaced with "... and then start engine in next 10 seconds".
    4) the "... but just to be safe you should fully depress brakes too" is not need to perform.

    So, full correct version is:

1)Handbrake On, Car is in Park and Ignition is on but Engine is off. (Transmission should be warmed up already before doing this)
    2)Go to 02 - Electronics & Measurement Group / Basic Settings > Group 60 > Read

In additional, you may to perform (as optional):

    "
Test drive after DSG 0AM basic settings

If the tester is held on the passenger seat or operated from there during the test drive, this
can lead to serious injuries during an accident, if the passenger airbag goes off.

Please take good care of the traffic. Do not endanger the traffic in any way.

    Test drive:

    1. Pulling away from stationary.
    - Pull away twice forwards in driving mode D up to 2nd gear gear.
    - Pull away twice backwards.

    2. Drive in every gear also in reverse gear.
    - Gear lever in tip gate.
    - Drive in every gear for at least 3 seconds.

    3. Drive alternately in 3rd, 5th or 7th gear and in 4th or 6th gear.
    - Gear lever in tip gate.
    - Rev range 2000 - 4500 rpm.
    - one minute in the 3. 5th or 7th gear and one minute in 4th or 6th gear
    - Repeat twice.

Drive with different accelerator pedal positions. The control unit must recognise for a short
moment the value for full acceleration. It is not necessary to reach the top speed.

    4. Finally, check the shifting of the gearbox.
    - Drive in every gear in driving mode D, also in reverse gear.
    - If negative repeat point 3.

    Note:

Check adaptations in measured value blocks 180_1 and 200_1. (my note: may be not the same numbers in your case, since numbers block it's depend on software version of DSG 7)
The number should be at least 3 per clutch.

If the test drive cannot be performed in the recommended way or for necessary length, the
still open fast adaptations are automatically and unnoticeably performed in the subsequent
    driving cycles.

I'm glad to share with all owners of DSG 7 who wants to perform basic setting and initial learning in DSG 7
    this original procedure:

    Technical product information
    Transaction No.: 2025490/1
    3511, 1P, 5P, 6J, Basic setting and initial learning in DSG (0AM - 7sp.) gearboxes
    Release date: 12-Apr-2011

    Customer statement / workshop findings
The basic setting in DSG (0AM – 7sp.) gearboxes cannot be performed with guided fault finding.

    Technical background
Various causes have been detected, including the main reason of low battery voltage.
On completion of the basic settings, the handling of the transmission does not improve.

    Production change
    - - -

    Measure

    ATTENTION!
    - Connect a battery charger to ensure the power supply of the vehicle.
    - Check that the diagnostic connector is correctly plugged in.
    - Update the VAS 505X to the most recent version available.
    - The transmission must have an ATF temperature of more than 60° C.

Proceed as follows to perform the basic setting:

    1.- Vehicle at standstill

    2.- Engine switched off

3.- Gear lever in Parking position

    4.- Handbrake on

    5.- Brake pedal depressed

With the VAS 505X connected and the ignition on (Current 15):

    1.- Enter Self-diagnosis

    2.- Select Transmission

    3.- Basic settings

    4.- Enter value block 60 and Q

The following reference values are displayed:

253 1 12: The basic setting has commenced

    4 0 0: Start the engine

254 0 0: The basic setting has been successfully completed

255 0 0: The basic setting was interrupted

If value 254 is displayed, this indicates that the basic setting has ended successfully, then

switch off the ignition and remove the key, 3 seconds.

    ATTENTION!

When test driving the vehicle, traffic conditions must be observed.

Start the vehicle and test drive vehicle for the initial learning of the DSG (0AM – 7sp.) gearbox.

    Test drive:

1-Place the gear lever in position D and perform two driving cycles

    forwards from 0 km/h to 2nd gear.

Place the gear lever in position R and perform two driving cycles in

reverse (drive for a few metres).

2-Place the gear lever in Tiptronic.

Drive in all gears including reverse gear (R).

Drive in each gear for at least 3 seconds.

3-Place the gear lever in Tiptronic.

Alternate between an odd number gear (3 or 5 or 7) and an even number gear

    (4 or 6).

Keep the engine speed between 2000 and 4500 rpm for approximately 5

minutes in each odd and even number gear.

    Repeat twice.

Continue test driving with different acceleration percentages.

The Mechatronics control unit must give the maximum acceleration values for a moment.

The vehicle maximum speed must not be reached.

4-Lastly, test drive the vehicle with the customer and confirm the improvements in the

    DSG (0AM – 7sp.) gearbox gears.

Drive in D (Drive) and R (Reverse).

If the gears jerk or are harsh, repeat step 3.

Check value blocks 180-1 and 200-1. The number should be at least 3

    for each clutch adaptation.

It is not possible to recommend the class and form or the required length.

An unjustified repair or replacement of the part may lead to the refusal of the warranty claim.

I tried a clutch adaption reset technique in the Basic Settings (block 200) to try to fix a problem, which didn't help, so I tried this out tonight. I didn't receive the expected output though:

Do I assume that the 255 means it failed? Any idea what 93 means, and where to go from here?

After waiting for about 2 minutes (in case the numbers would change again) I closed VCDS and decided to test the car out, put it in reverse, and slowly left my parking space - was nice and smooth, just as I went to apply some more power, I hear the car rev as in neutral. Try driving forwards again, same thing. See a car coming towards me. Commence panicking.

Try turning the car off and back on again, and everything works fine. Notice the instruction at the end that says to turn the car off when completed (thought I did that but can't remember) - anyway sigh of relief.

The car did drive smoother than before but I didn't get a chance to completely test if the original problem was fixed (car revs up and down inbetween 2700-3000rpm when applying moderate power in gears 4 and 6).

Thanks for the instructions, if you have any other comments please let me know.

    Ryan_R,
I'm so sorry, but only now have to see your post.

255 in first field means error that was occurred during process of Basic Settings for DSG-7(0AM).
Second field is specific error code, your have 93. This is “Neutral Switch n_An timeout”.

Let me share for all full error list (specific error codes) that maybe shown if you have 255 in first field.
This list on German language (in original), but may be easy translated by Google, for example.

Thanks for that. My car is actually getting a new mechatronics installed today (after new clutch pack 2 months ago) so hopefully I won't need to try this again, but good to know regardless.

Any idea what it means by Neutral timeout - was I supposed to engage neutral during the procedure?

    Ryan_R, you are welcome!

About «Neutral timeout» I guess (IMHO) that in one of step, procedure «Basic Settings» has trying to go to Neutral (for any needed reason) and can’t to do that, waiting timeout has gone and procedure is stopped with reporting specific error (the 93 in this case).

This behavior may reflect a problem with internal valves inside mechatronic (IMHO).
