    Hi all,

    The VW DSG /TDI mix is hard act to match. Everybody should have one . GOTTA find out more, so what a great forum you offer.

    Following a recent buy of a 2005 Golf 2.0 DSG/TDI in the household I now need one too . I am acquiring a 2007 (MY07) Passat DSG/TDI sedan shortly and will need to fit a towbar for light work. Consultation with local VW folk indicates about $2000! I have read a great deal on this wondrous site on tow bar wiring issues. Britax put out a Part No B1870E electronic "box" to go between vehicle wiring and trailer plug which they claim isolates the trailer wiring from the vehicle elec/electronics systems in modern European cars and specifically BMWs. Local VW bloke took a lot of trouble to kindly and patiently point out that it does not and that the Passat "engine control unit" would still need to be changed or modified and that other problems could be expected. Sounds pretty scary to me so it seems the gold plated VW process maybe the only way to get it all right. Is there no other way?

    I really do not tow at night and mainly need to use a bike rack on the tow bar which needs no lights , so maybe I could do without interfering with the car wiring at all if I could light the trailer tail/ brake lights with an independent separate battery and fashion to go with it an independent flasher control for the trailer turn flashers. Not tradesman like but would do for my occasional trailer to the tip use.

    Hayman Reese put out a bar to fit they say for about $411 . Some posts here say the genuine VW one in Aust is from Hayman Reese? Anyone care to comment and or know of a good looking after market tow bar to suit the 2007 Passat , preferably one that does not involve a tin opener ?

    Hi All

    Great Forum from what i have seen so far.

    I'm from Durban South Africa.

    I own a 2007 Polo GTi, Mods so far.
    63mm downpipe and zoorst to the back, EDS Managament software and just replaced the turbo with the S3 turbo (still work in progress)
    Before the turbo change, i was running 164.4kw and 398nm at 3257rpm

    Look forward to adding my experiences on this forum.

    Hi All,

    Awesome forum. I own a 2009 Jetta 103TDI with DSG and have to say it's the best car I've ever owned by a mile. I've owned Holdens (Calais) and Fords (Falcons and a Fiesta) and Toyota's, and the Jetta leaves them all for dead in terms of build quality. Never been happier with a car purchase.

    G'day, New member here.
    Hopefully buying a new VW soon (i.e. next 4-5 months)
    Waiting for GTDs to come out. Was very impressed with the turbo diesel in the polo and I'm looking at the golf.
    Just need to make up my mind.

    Hi everyone.. I found this forum through reference from another VW Forum.
    I'm from Sydney and recently purchased a white MK5 GTi, its my first VW!! loving the feel of it and wish I had found it earlier.

    There's so much out there and its a little bit overwhelming at times. hopefully meet some of your fellow members in a GTG soon enough.

    Big Hi from Brisbane, just recently bought myself a used 2001 Passat V6 (B5.5) Sedan with all the extras apart from the Sunroof. Absolutly loving the car, think its certainly the best looking model Passat beyond the R36 Wagon. One day....!

    Beyond the daily grind to work between Rochedale, New Farm and Toowong, have just taken it for a weekend drive last Saturday up Mt Tamborine, a very effortless and comfortable trip.

    Hi All

    I have only owned VW's started off with a 73 L Bug awesome car really miss it! Upgraded to a golf mk3 GL very reliable and and loved it clutch lasted for about 220K that was with a mix of city and country driving! Now i have upgraded to the MK6 golf 118TSI and love it very economical drove 800km on the highway before needing to refill and still had a few litres up my sleeve.......forgot to mention i owned a R32 briefly MK4 awesome car loved the looks and drive...... Wish list is a sirocco got the chance to sit and drive one in the UK real same that VW australia is not importing this car http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/imag...s/icon_mad.gif

    Hi all, recently picked up my first VW. Got the 118tsi manual in candy white, loving the car so far! Been following the site since i decided to go hunt for my very first car. Great site, excellent info on all things VW especially those price guides for the Golf.
