I do get the 'Not Optimised Message' but no functions appear to be affected - phone or iPod both charge with no problem.
I only got one cable which is about 6" long and connects direct into the MDI with a female USB on the other end. I didn't get any other cable.

Should I? If so I'll go back to the dealer and ask for it. We did have a few issues with them in terms of service and attention so just another small issue to the list.

Well that's your problem then! That's a bloody USB cable and not an iPod or iPhone cable!

A lot of people will make that mistake (including myself admittedly)!

In the flashy brochure, they always picture an iPod connected.
Fcuken ... they don't tell you that what you get is just the USB cable as standard when you tick the MDI box.
It's basically false advertising if you ask me!

When ordering you basically need to be very specific and negotiate for an iPod cable, instead of the standard USB one that comes with this option!

As stealer will charge you at least $65 and I've seen as high as $85 over at Wally World for it @ Spares!

I'd suggest you buy it here instead :
    Volkswagen MEDIA IN - 000051446C

But please do yourself a favour and ask them to confirm that it is compatible with the iPhone4.

But back to the MDI problem - who can positively say they have a cable and it works? If so, where did you get it from?

Does it charge the iPhone while plugged in?
Hi the one I got on e-Bay came from Hong Kong the seller ID (and no I am not a relative) is deluxe-item. This cable connects to my iPod touch 4 Gen, charges and I can navigate via steering wheels and RCD all Playlists, etc.

I too would like to know about the iPhone 4 with the MDI cable as I am looking into a Tig and want this functionality...
What about the Bluetooth streaming- has anyone got that going with the iPhone 4?

Saga all over. I emailed the salesman, didn't get a reply for 3 weeks then got one from the Sales Manager. He said the salesman was no longer with them (did our survey to VW Australia result in that?!?) but if I'd like to drop in he'd give me the correct cable.

    Yep Bt and MDI both.

I use an 8GB thumb drive with loads of Mp3s on it and it works brilliantly.

I also stream iPhone with the BT function on the RNC510 and it works perfectly also. I didn't bother with the iPhone cable at 88$ or so.

I have iPhone and IPad and have used most of the android devices, especially tablets and Apple have the best package IMHO. People just love to bash Apple it seems.

The Mi and Bt on the RNC510 is brilliant I believe.

    Cheers

Steaming via Bluetooth is not very good quality.
