    Angry Columbus No Longer Available

Following on with the saga that is trying to get the Columbus Sat Nav unit in our car replaced under warranty (it's now been 12 weeks or so), we've now been told by Skoda Customer Service that "this part is no longer available".

Has anybody else heard anything like this, or know what the replacement is? Skoda Customer Service can't actually tell me what the replacement is, because, supposedly, they don't know either?!?

This could work out well if they are about to unleash a new unit....despite your frustrations, if the new unit is nicer, you will forget the hassle after a week. Assuming they can code the car properly for it that is.

The replacement is most likely the RNS 310, known as the Amundsen in the Skoda world.

I call BS on it not being available, tell them you want the same unit as a replacement or they can refund the car and you'll buy a Volkswagen who can supply a new unit if the RNS 510 fails.

Twelve weeks wait to then be told something is not available? That's complete BS.

Get your facts on a piece of paper (dates, conversations, etc).
Make a polite phone call to the dealer principal and explain the situation factually then advise him or her that they have 24 hours to resolve the issue before you lodge a formal complaint with the ACCC. You could also ask whether they would like to have your vehicle parked in front of their dealership each day until the matter is resolved with appropriate sign writing indicating the level of service and support that you have received from them and Skoda Australia.
If nothing happens in the 24 hour period then go to the ACCC.

At all times stay polite and reasonable but if you say you are going to do something be prepared to actually do it.

I saw a post on Briskoda this morning where a person is saying that their car build date has been pushed out 6 weeks due to a Bolero "radio shortage".
