Witson W2 D723V Quick Video Review Series

    Hi all,

I decided to post this quick review of the Witson W2 D723V unit as i found very little about it about 12 months ago when I really needed.

Hopefully it helps you decided if that is what you wish to spend your money on.

Video quality is not excellent as i used a point and shoot camera to record it in video mode. The audio isn't so great either as the mic is pretty basic. I was also pretty hung over and wasn't talking very loud but you can still hear it well.

There are 16 vids in total, and i'm uploading them slowly. Pretty close to being shaped at the moment so need to wait for off peak broadband time (pathetic i know).

Please, please save your comments or questions for after the final post. Then you can go mental.

    Thanks,
    MKV R32

    hello

thank you so much for the complete video review of the unit.
Do you think by now they would have come up with a pretty much bug-free edition.
I am looking to buy one of these over RCD-510 simply because of the number of features it offers.
    so here are my questions

-Which one is better WD-6050 or Witson W2 D723 or are they exactly the same. They have come up with a new model W2-D9215V as well.
-I own a 2010 VW Polo(latest), will this be a plug-n-play solution for me? Will i have any of those battery draining issues or system not starting when the ignition is at 1 or any CANBUS issues?

-I know there have been problems/bugs with this system. I just wish to know if it would at least let me play the following without any bugs:-
    1. FM, i have heard the reception is bad (how bad? any solutions).I DO NOT WANT AM ,ONLY FM
    2. the CD/DVD for music,
    3. ipod (even through a simple aux-in)
    4. reverse camera

I DO NOT WANT THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS OR EVEN THE MFD DISPLAY. can live without GPS as well (if it works then great!)

so do you think looking at the above requirements, i can expect this system to work fairly well with minimum bugs?
i want this as this will blend with the interior and its designed like an OEM
-RNS-510 is way way out of my league.
    - I need aux-in which is an additional accessory for RCD 510 i think.

sorry for asking so many questions, i just need to be sure before i buy it

    Thanks in advance

    Dude, honestly, I don't know.

It's hard to try before you buy. I'm very very happy with what i got for what i paid. I mainly wanted the flush look, that does not stand out like or has A-L-P-I-N-E written all over it. Don't want break ins.

I got it mainly because i put mp3 dvds (with many albums) and they are easy to listen to instead of changing cds every 80 mins of music play. Once you do that, you'll never even think about going back to mp3 cds. Just that fact is worth the dollars, the rest is a bonus. Live music dvds are also good to have.
I dont even listen to the radio. am or fm. Stations here are smack crackle and pop.

A battery is a battery, if watch a 3 hour movie with stereo on blast with car not on, you'll probalby drain it.

Quality is decent. Everything basic as you mentioned works really well. Some of the more technical things are a little more buggy, and you use them so infrequently that it wont bother you. For example, why would i want to put pictures on an sd card to view them on a 6.5" screen instead of a 24" monitor on the pc?

May not be as user friendly as expensive and quality counterparts but you will get used to it so quickly.

The reverse camera thing should work. You need that on a polo? That is hilarious. That's almost the smallest car vw makes. Grow some balls! Drive it like a man!

In summary, GOOD value for money. I can't see a new model being worse. But what would i know...

Thanks for the info. I have bitten the bullet and purchase one from Bob!
I can't view your ids but that is probably an iPad thing! Can you tell me who installed it for you? Was it a diy plug and play opportunity or did you go the hog and get it professionally installed? I have already been able to dismantle and take the RCD510 out with the help of another post, but not sure of the ability to just plug the Witson in"!

    Thanks

Sorry about delayed response. You probably have it all figured out. How is it now? Care to review?
