I'm not sure but this might be it:
New OEM Bluetooth Handsfree kit RNS510 MFD3 VW SKODA (eBay item 280604912022 end time 15-Jan-11 20:37:11 AEDST) : Phones

Why can't they just use one set of codes/part numbers?

Such a basic feature, and the #$%^s charge $550 for it when it should be standard on all Aus production vehicles.

And yet, we all line up bent over the barrle wanting one.. including me....

    Agreed 1000%,

When i can add blue tooth to a computer for $50
Or by a 7 inch 2din after market with built in blutooth
or just your average garmin, tom tom, etc gps unit with touch screen dial voice dial address and contact list etc for less than just the blutooth unit from VW,
    WTF are they thinking,
many other cars much better priced come standard with reverse sensors, full alarm , imobilizer, blue tooth, etc etc etc

come on VW get with it

The reason people are excited, is prior to MY11, that $550 option you're complaining about was a $2200 dealer accessory.
And at $2200, it was not out of touch of other european bluetooth costs! So yes, other cheaper cars have bluetooth for free. From what I've seen, they're far more basic than what you get for $550 (at least based on my Golf with RNS510).

So that is why people are excited about paying $550 for bluetooth.
I'm sure at some point it'll be free, but $550 is obviously WAAAAAY better than the $2200 of six months ago

The VW premium bluetooth system integrates very well with the MFS and RNS, and is a hundred times better than the basic system in my parents Ford BF. How many cars let you scroll through your address book using the steering wheel buttons?

If you have had the bluetooth $550 option factory installed (the 9w2 I believe) do you get a shark fin antenna with the car even if you have not ordered an RNS510 (Car is coming with a RCD310 and being dealer fitted with a RCD510)? I ask because on Aerial Information for Volkswagen Golf | my-gti.com it seems like you get a shark fin antenna for the bluetooth.

I ask because I'm thinking about getting an RNS510 retrofitted and was wondering if it does come with the shark fin and if I could use it with the RNS510?
