    Removing T4 Ignition Barrel

Hi, Can anyone tell me where you have to drill a T4 ignition switch housing to release the ignition barrel?
I recently replaced the switch, which fixed the intermittent starting problem.
Now it won't start at all because the tang on the bottom of the barrel has broken off.
Maybe that was what caused the problem with the switch in the first place.
All I need to do is drill the housing and poke something in there to release the barrel, but where?
I'm guessing I need another barrel or cylinder so any ideas for where to get this would be appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Jim

Just Kampers have the replacement ignition barrel....as for getting the old one out - not sure about that one and I'd be especially doubtful about needing to drill it out.

Have a squiz around the Brick-yard or the VWT4forum (both in the UK) for posts about the ignition barrel

Sorry, I didn't mean you actually drill it out.
They all say you drill a small 1/8" hole in the housing which allows you to insert a very small screwdriver or similar to release the tab that retains it. Then it should just pull out. Thanks for your help. Will look into the other forums you suggested.

4litre6 is correct, I have found a diagram on where to drill & how to do it. I don't have a scanner but will try a photo later when I get a chance.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

That sounds great. At this stage I would settle for a simple description. A bit desperate!!

Before I follow above instructions to remove the barrel, can somebody please tell me if I need to and how I would remove the reader coil for the immobiliser (marked 2201a on the picture)?

Can I just pull it off or is there a special technique?
    Thanks!
