Static Cornering Lights (Fog Lights on GTI and GTD)

    Hey guys,

I was wondering if the GTI has the cornering lights function on the fog lights?

I know if you option on Xenon's that the actual headlights have a awesome cornering function built into the actual headlights

But Im talking about the fog lights that come standard on the GTI.

The reason im asking is that I saw a Mk6 Golf (Twin Charger) today with fog lights, and as it was parking and the bloke was turning the steering wheel, the fog lights would fade on and off depending on where he moved the steering wheel. So since the GTI comes standard with fog lights, does it have the same feature.

I also saw a new Merc C Class parking the other day that had the same feature I saw on this guys golf.

Or is it something that needs to be enabled on the VAG COM at the dealer?

    EDIT:

I found a video on youtube here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qk7Skv2dGlQ

But the guy has Xenon's optioned onto the car, so is this feature available (or if not, can it be enabled) on GTI's with Halogen lights?

This is the Static Cornering Lights function. The manual seems to suggest that it's on all GTIs, not just those with Xenons, and that you don't need to enable it - it should just work. Only requirements, AFAIK, are that you have your headlights on, you're turning sharply, and doing less than 40km/h.

I don't have my GTI yet; maybe someone else who has theirs can confirm?

Yes this feature is available for the GTI & Golf Mk6 and is activated via VCDS or your dealer can turn it on for you as well.

Look in Module 9 - Central Electronics - found in coding via the Long Coding Helper.

what this will do is if the cares turn signals are on or the steering wheel is turned more than 25 degrees, the corresponding fog light will come on.

My fog lights do not come on automatically when I turn. Only the Xenons turned but I would also like to have the corresponding fog light come on too. Looks like I'll need to go visit my dealer...

The guy from service told me that the corresponding fog light only comes on when you are doing over 40km/h. I tried to corner over 40km/h but couldnt really notice the fog light coming on...

operates UNDER 40 kph on our TDI Mk 6
You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.

Yep - under 40kph. It's specifically to light to the side of the road when turning into a driveway or a suburbian street corner etc.

Maverick has an articled based on the Touareg on his my-gti.com site.

There are both pictures and explanations of the Dynamic Steered Headlights, and Static Cornering lights

I asked my dealer about it, he said that AUS GOLF GTI does not come with this function.
